Who and Where We Are

Third Act Acoustics is a small, independent acoustic design and installation business based in Dundas, Ontario, serving Hamilton, Burlington, and other communities within a ~60km radius.

We help people create rooms that sound better, feel more comfortable, and support the work they do.

Whether it's a home recording studio, a therapy or wellness office, a podcasting space, a lively conference room, or the place you spend your working days strategizing on back-to-back video calls, taming the acoustics of a space can make a notable difference.

So our work begins with a simple idea: the room should support what happens inside it, not get in the way of it.

Sound by Design, Built by Hand

We design and build our acoustic treatments in-house, using carefully selected materials and fabricating methods developed through years of woodworking, studio construction, and hands-on experimentation.

This approach allows us to adapt our work to individual spaces rather than relying entirely on off-the-shelf products.

It also means paying attention to how a room looks and feels, not simply how it measures.

We believe acoustic treatment should be effective, affordable, thoughtfully made, and visually at home in the space it occupies.

Small Business — Personal Relationships

Third Act Acoustics was founded on the belief that good work begins with good relationships.

We're not interested in high-pressure sales, unnecessary installations, or one-size-fits-all solutions.

Instead, we aim to offer clear explanations, realistic expectations, transparent pricing, and honest recommendations — including occasions when a simpler or less expensive solution may be the right one.

We're particularly interested in working with home musicians and recordists, independent practitioners, and people who have adapted parts of their homes into working spaces.

These are often modest rooms doing important work. They deserve thoughtful attention — and the results speak for themselves.

Why ‘Third Act’?

Third Act Acoustics was founded by Arne Joost Rickert, a carpenter, musician, and longtime builder of creative spaces.

The name reflects a new chapter in a working life that has included writing, technology, music, woodworking, and the construction of recording environments.

It also expresses something about the spirit of the business — bringing together accumulated skills, curiosity, and experience in service of work that feels useful and worthwhile.

Third Act Acoustics is a small, focused operation by design, rooted in the community where we live, work and play.

And we're just getting started.

So Let's Talk About Your Room

You don't need to know anything about acoustics to begin the conversation. You only need to know what isn't working quite as well as you'd like in the room you rely on.

At Third Act Acoustics, we believe the best solutions come from understanding how people actually use their rooms. So before recommending a single acoustic panel, we'll ask about your space, the work you do there, and what you'd like to hear changed. We'll ask questions, listen carefully, and help you make sense of the acoustic possibilities.

There's no obligation, no technical knowledge required, and no pressure to commit to anything.

So tell us about your space, what you do there, and what you'd like to improve. We'll take it from there.
